DONETSK, Ukraine, April 29 (UPI) -- Videos from eastern Ukraine show escalating violence as clashes between pro-Russian separatists and Ukrainian nationalists intensify.
Pro-Russian separatists attacked Ukrainians in the city of Donetsk as they marched in a rally declaring "Donetsk is Ukraine." The pro-Russian militants began to beat them with baseball bats and firecrackers as they walked through the city.
In the eastern city of Kharkov, several thousand football ultras attacked 300 anti-government protesters shouting, "Ukraine's above all!" and "Glory to Ukraine!" Police reported that 14 people sustained injuries after they were attacked with bats and sticks.
Ukraine has accused Russia of purposely stirring unrest as an excuse to invade and annex the region.
