JERUSALEM , April 16 (UPI) -- An Israeli police officer, shot to death as he drove his family to a Passover seder, was buried in Jerusalem.

Baruch Mizrachi, 47, a police signal intelligence officer since 2011 after a 25-year career in the Israeli Defense Force’s prestigious Intelligence Unit 8200, was killed while driving Monday night in the West Bank town of Kiryat Arba.

His wife Haddas, who was injured in the shooting, eulogized him at the gravesite ceremony, saying, “Our children will be raised on the love of the homeland.” Hundreds of mourners were in attendance in the Mt. Hertzl National Cemetery for the funeral Wednesday.

“A bullet hit me and another hit Baruch,” Haddas told Israel’s Army Radio earlier. “He fell on top of me and I picked him up. I grabbed the wheel.”

Police have not reported the arrest of a suspect in the shooting.
