Clive Goodman, a journalist on trial in the UK phone hacking scandal, claims the late Princess Diana leaked him a phone directory of royal staffers.
Goodman says that Princess Diana handed over the directory during her divorce from Prince Charles in an effort to gain support in a bitter time.

"She wanted me to see the scale of her husband's staff and household, compared to the scale of hers." said Goodman, "She was in a very bitter situation with the Prince of Wales at the time, she felt that she was being swamped by the people close to him. She was looking for an ally."
Goodman and the 6 other journalists accused of hacking into people's phones for stories have all denied the charges.
