3 police officers killed in bombing in Bahraini village

MANAMA, Bahrain, March 4 (UPI) -- The government of Bahrain has rounded up 25 suspects in a bombing that killed three police officers, the interior minister announced Tuesday.

The bombing occurred Monday in the village of Daih, where another police officer was killed in mid-February, the Bahrain news agency reported. Lt. Gen. Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa announced the arrests in a televised speech in Manama.

"We are dealing with people who have no conscience and who do not fear God," he said. "Therefore, we need to identify these violent actors so that they get what they deserve. Their criminal acts must be punished in order to protect society from their evils and increasing danger."

The minister said that outside groups are clearly involved in terrorist acts in Bahrain with training occurring at Revolutionary Guard camps in Iran. He said that explosives seized at the end of 2013 had been brought to Bahrain from Iraq.
