Five missing after merchant ship accident off China's southern coast

BEIJING, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Rescuers were searching for five people after a Chinese merchant ship collided with another ship off the coast of southern China, officials said.

Six members of the 11-person crew of the Sheng'anda 7, were rescued Monday after the maritime search and rescue center in Guangdong province received a call for help about 6:30 a.m., Xinhua reported.

The ship collided with another merchant vessel off Dong'ao Island in the province's Pearl River estuary, the center said in a statement.
