Israel aircraft missile targets Palestinians who were firing mortar

GAZA, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Mortar attacks on Israeli forces led to an airstrike that injured three Palestinians in the southern Gaza strip Thursday, medical officials said.

An Israeli plane fired a missile at a vehicle, injuring two men.

A nearby child was also cut by broken glass, the Palestinian Ma'an news agency reported.

The three victims were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The Israeli army said the attack occurred after the two men fired mortar shells at Israel forces Thursday morning.

The two men were preparing to strike again when the Israeli aircraft fired, the Jerusalem Post reported.

No Israeli causalities were reported.
