Diplomatic reshuffle sends 12 Turkish envoys to new posts

ANKARA, Turkey, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- The Turkish Foreign Ministry performed diplomatic musical chairs Monday, moving 12 ambassadors and envoys to new posts around the world.

As part of the reshuffle, Serdar Kilic, Turkey's ambassador to Japan, was reassigned to Washington, Today's Zaman reported.

Abdulrrahman Bilgic, deputy undersecretary of the Turkish National Intelligence Organization, was named ambassador to England.

Bulent Meric was appointed to replace Kilic as ambassador to Japan.

The ambassador to Egypt, Huseyn Avni Botsali, was named a permanent representative to the U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.

The other envoys received postings to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Switzerland, France, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Ivory Coast, Mali and Mauritania.

Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu did not announce the reason for the reassignments.
