Doctors Without Borders says it can't say more about kidnapped doctors

GENEVA, Switzerland, Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Doctors Without Borders Friday declined to provide additional information on the abduction of five doctors from a house in northern Syria.

"We are aware of the incident involving #MSF staff in #Syria," the organization said in a Twitter message. "For the safety of our staff we can't provide any more information at this time."

A spokesman for the organization, Guillermo Agar, earlier told CNN by email the doctors were taken from a house they were using "by a group allegedly for questioning."

"We are in contact with all the relevant stakeholders and the families of our staff members, and are doing all we can to re-establish contact with our colleagues," Agar added.

The group based in Geneva, Switzerland, operates six hospitals and four health centers in northern Syria. Much of the region is controlled by rebel groups and Islamic militants.
