VAUD, Switzerland, July 29 (UPI) -- Police in western Switzerland said two commuter trains collided Monday evening, killing four people and injuring 40 more, with one driver unaccounted for.

The incident happened in Vaud between Moudon and Payerne when two regional SBB trains on the same track -- one entering the station and one departing -- collided violently, witnesses told SRF television.

Vaud police have not identified a cause for the crash. Commuter rail service on the Palezieux-Payerne line had been suspended.
