LLOYDMINSTER, Saskatchewan, July 29 (UPI) -- Authorities Monday identified six Canadian teenagers killed when their car collided with a tanker truck during the weekend.
Killed in the crash at an intersection near Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, early Saturday were: Aimie Hurley, 14, Mackenzie Moen, 14, and Naomi Salas-Schafer, 13, all of Lloydminster; Kristopher Tavener, 17, and Jayden Boettcher, 16, both of Marshall; and Tarren Attfield, 15, of Lashburn, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said the driver of the tanker truck was hospitalized in stable condition, the CBC said.
The RCMP had not confirmed the cause of the crash but said no alcohol was found in the car. It wasn't reported which teen was driving.
Lloydminster Mayor Jeff Mulligan called on the community to band together.
"It's a tough day but it's one of those things," he said. "We all should today reach out and hug our kids and grandkids."
