PRAGUE, Czech Republic, June 14 (UPI) -- Seven government officials, including the prime minister's chief of staff, were arrested in the Czech Republic in anti-corruption raids, officials said.
The raids were conducted Wednesday and Thursday, The New York Times reported.
The officials arrested included Prime Minister Petr Necas' chief of staff, Jana Nagyova, who was charged with misuse of office and bribery, the Times said Friday.
Among the others arrested was Ondrej Palenik, the former head of military intelligence, who was charged with abuse of power, his lawyer told the CTK news agency.
The corruption investigations could lead to a vote of no-confidence against the prime minister during a meeting of Parliament, the Times reported.
Necas said he has no intention of resigning.
"I am personally convinced that I did not do anything dishonest and that my colleagues have not done anything dishonest either," Necas said. "I expect that law enforcement agencies will quickly explain their reasons for launching such a massive operation."
