ABERDEEN, Scotland, April 24 (UPI) -- Britain's Advertising Standards Authority has banned an ad campaign run by Donald Trump's Scottish golf resort on the grounds it is misleading.
Trump International Golf Club Scotland ran ads in Scottish newspapers attacking plans for a wind farm that it said would hurt tourism and the beauty of Scotland, Britain's The Guardian reported.
The Advertising Standards Authority said it received 21 complaints about the ads that feature a picture of wind turbines along a U.S. motorway accompanied by the question "Is this the future for Scotland?"
The ASA said claims that "tourism will suffer" was an objective statement and that its analysis of studies showed "there was little evidence of a negative effect and, over time, hostility to wind farms lessened and they became an accepted and even valued part of the scenery."
Trump has threatened to take legal action against plans to build offshore turbines that he said would ruin the view from his $1.1 billion resort in Aberdeenshire.
