Innocent men spend decade in prison

HANGZHOU, China, March 26 (UPI) -- Two men who spent 10 years in prison for rape had their convictions reversed Tuesday by a court in eastern China.

The Zhejiang Provincial Higher People's court determined that evidence presented during the rape trial of Zhang Hui and his uncle Zhang Gaoping wasn't enough to support their convictions, the official Chinese news agency Xinhua reported.

The court said "there was new evidence showing the possibility of another suspect" in the 2003 rape of a woman in Hangzhou.

Sources close to the court said the new suspect is in prison for another crime and his DNA matches that taken from the rape victim.
