LAKE LOUISE, Alberta, March 18 (UPI) -- Rough weather and an avalanche risk have halted a search for a man trapped on a glacier for six days near Canada's Lake Louise, an official said.
The man was skiing with two companions, a man and woman, Wednesday on the Wapta Traverse in Alberta's Waptiuk range of the Rocky Mountains when he fell into a crevasse at an elevation of 2,600 meters (8,530 feet), the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Monday.
The companions were rescued Friday.
Rescue efforts for the trapped man will resume as soon as weather conditions improve, said Parks Canada spokesman Omar McDadi.
"This area is found at very high elevation, in a very difficult-to-access terrain. We've had little cooperation with the weather and the avalanche danger rating has been high throughout most of this time period, so it's made for a very difficult rescue operation," McDadi said.
