RICHMOND, British Columbia, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- Four people were hospitalized for treatment of gunshot wounds sustained in what police described as a targeted shooting in Richmond, British Columbia.
Officials said some of the gunshot wounds were life-threatening injuries, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Thursday.
A spokesman for a British Columbia ambulance service told the CBC the shooting occurred Wednesday evening during a meeting of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union Canada at Riverside Banquet Hall.
Police said it did not appear the shooting -- which occurred as about 100 people were gathered in the banquet hall for an induction ceremony -- was gang-related.
The identities of the victims were not reported.
