OTTAWA, Jan. 14 (UPI) -- The deaths of a mother and her two children found in the basement of their Ottawa home Monday were a double murder-suicide, police said.
The children's father found the bodies, police sources told the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. Authorities were summoned to the home about 5:30 p.m. and firefighters were the first on the scene.
The CBC's sources identified the woman as Allison Corchis and the children as the couple's son Alex, 10, and daughter Katie, 6.
Investigators suspect Corchis used a sharp weapon of some kind to kill the children, the CBC sources said.
