SENDAI, Japan, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- The number of injured in a 7.3-magnitude earthquake in northeastern Japan has risen to 13, officials said.

A man in his 80s in Aomori prefecture and a 62-year-old man in Miyagi prefecture suffered injuries. Eleven injuries were reported initially in Friday quake, Kyodo News reported.

Authorities said they were searching Saturday for Tokujiro Hayashi, 71, who has not been seen since he evacuated in a boat from Kuji port after tsunami warnings were issued.

The quake prompted the evacuation of more than 20,000 people, the temporary closure of the Sendai Airport and some disruption of rail traffic.

The Meteorological Agency said a 6.0-magnitude quake may hit the area next week.
