Nov. 9, 2012 at 2:14 PM

JERUSALEM, Nov. 9 (UPI) -- An Israeli soldier was injured in a blast at a smuggling tunnel near the Gaza border, officials said.

The soldier was lightly wounded in an attack Thursday when Israeli troops were doing maintenance work on the Israel-Gaza border fence, Ynetnews.com reported. A jeep was also damaged in the blast.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak said Israel is holding Hamas responsible for the attack and is contemplating when and how to react.
