Paris trains back running on time

PARIS, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Trains were running on time in Paris Thursday after more than 50,000 people were delayed due an electrical problem the day before.

Two train conductors were attacked, one hospitalized, by unruly and angry riders when their trains were delayed for hours between metro Paris and its suburbs. Other passengers exasperated by the delays hopped out and walked the tracks, Radio France International said.

Thousands were left stranded in Paris's Gare du Nord station with no way to leave until after midnight Thursday.

International trains to Britain, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany were delayed by about an hour.

The Parisian rail system serves about 3 million people daily on 7,500 trains.
