Brush fire erupts in Golan Heights

JERUSALEM, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- A fire that broke out in Golan Heights may have been a byproduct of fighting in Syria, officials said.

The fire started Saturday morning near Mount Hosek in the eastern part of Golan, Ynetnews reported.

The Israeli military's Northern Command said a piece of shrapnel that landed in the area may have caused the brush fire. The shrapnel apparently came from Syrian army forces as part of their attempt to push the rebel forces back.

There have been no reports of injury or damage caused by the fire.
