Blair bust planned for Parliament

LONDON, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Tony Blair will join other British prime ministers with a bust of himself in Parliament's Members' Lobby, government documents say.

The former prime minister is the only person missing from a set of sculptures representing "Prime Ministers of the 20th Century." Minutes from the House of Common's Works of Art Committee Nov. 8 meeting indicate an artwork was proposed and Blair had agreed to sit for it.

No cost for the art work was specified, The Daily Telegraph noted, but sculptor Robert Hornyold-Strickland said a life-size bronze bust could cost as much as 20,000 pounds (about $31,644) and depending on who does the work, could go as high as 50,000 pounds ($79,100).

So far this year, Parliament has spent 230,000 pounds (nearly $364,000) on art.
