30 die in Indian bus crash

JALKOT, India, June 17 (UPI) -- A bus loaded with people on a pilgrimage crashed in India Saturday, killing 30 people and injuring 17, authorities said.

The bus was on its way to Shirdi when it rolled down a deep, dry rivulet, The Times Network reported.

"The accident was caused due to negligent and rash driving," said Ravindrasinh Pardeshi, a police official in Osmanabad.

"The survivors told us that from the very start of their journey the bus driver was speeding. The passengers had warned him against driving fast, but the driver ignored them."
