Russian boat capsizes, three drown

SARATOV, Russia, June 1 (UPI) -- A small Russian boat capsized after striking a floating tree in the Volga River Friday and three of 10 passengers drowned, including a child, police said.

The accident occurred in the Saratov region, RIA Novosti reported.

The child who drowned was 9 years old, police said.

Rescuers arrived at the scene shortly after the boat capsized and saved other passengers who were taken to a hospital.
