About 20 minutes after they left the ground, the balloon collided with an electric cable, setting the balloon on fire.

The man, 61, and one of the women, 55, jumped from the balloon and fell about 50 feet to the ground. The remaining woman, 60, stayed in the balloon and tried to turn the gas off, sending it crashing to the ground.

The man, who suffered more serious injuries, was flown to a hospital in Bordeaux, while the two women, who only suffered slight injuries, were taken to a nearby hospital, the report said.
