NATO supply route decision delayed

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, April 6 (UPI) -- The decision on the reopening of NATO supply routes in Pakistan was delayed Friday, as some parties said they will not agree to the move.

The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl Party Friday dropped out of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, which is working to re-establish the NATO supply routes, in protest of the reopening of the routes, Dawn News reported.

JUI-F leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the government had already made the decision, so there was no point in further discussion.

Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, also warned that he would quit his office if the supply routes were reopened.

The PCNS proposed to the National Assembly six revisions to the current plan to re-establish the supply routes, The Nation reported.

Nisar said five of the revisions favor Pakistan, while one is advantageous to the United States and NATO.

He added the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz party would never agree to recommendations that carry U.S. interests.
