BEIJING, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- Seven coal miners died in a mine collapse in northern China's Shanxi province, authorities said Monday.

The accident occurred Sunday at the Beiyu Coal Mine in the city of Linfen.

Authorities said the workers were checking the mine's shaft when the roof gave way, Xinhua reported.

The bodies of all seven were recovered, city officials said.

The coal mine was operated by the Shanxi Puxian County Hongyuan Group, the report said.
