OTTAWA, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- An award-winning Ottawa high school teacher has lost her teaching license because of intimate relationships with three male students, officials say.
The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Monday it had learned the Ontario College of Teachers stripped Joanne Leger-Legault of her license last September.
Leger-Legault, who had taught at A.Y. Jackson Secondary School and Merivale High School, pleaded no contest to allegations of professional misconduct. At her hearing, she admitted having an "intimate sexual relationship" with two boys and kissing a third on the lips, the CBC said.
She was alleged to have been involve with four boys from 2001 to 2006.
"By engaging in inappropriate relationships with, and sexual abuse of students whom she taught, the member committed acts of professional misconduct as alleged," a report from the hearing panel read.
"The member failed to maintain the standards of the profession, committed acts that would be regarded by members as disgraceful, dishonorable or unprofessional and engaged in conduct unbecoming a member."
Leger-Legault's decade of employment with the Ottawa-Carleton School District ended last June. She was honored in 2010 for promoting French-language literary arts.
