Young brothers found dead in burned pickup

MONTREAL, May 3 (UPI) -- Quebec provincial police used helicopters and dogs Tuesday searching for clues into a torched pickup truck containing the bodies of two young brothers.

Sgt. Louis-Philippe Ruel told The (Montreal) Gazette a 6-year-old boy found alive but badly burned outside the blackened truck would be questioned and a hunt was on for a man believed to be the father of the children.

The dead brothers were 9 and 12, police said.

The truck was found Monday morning in a rural wooded area near Drummondville, about 65 miles east of Montreal, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. said.

Ruel said two propane tanks were found inside the truck.

He said the unidentified father was not considered a suspect but rather an "important witness" in the investigation. Ruel said the father "may be injured" but didn't elaborate.

He also refused to comment on local media reports the man was in a divorce dispute, the Gazette said.
