Swede accused of leading pedophilia ring

BERLIN, April 17 (UPI) -- A Swede living in Germany has been arrested for more than 20 cases of alleged pedophilia, including victims from disaster-struck Haiti.

Johan E., as he is called, is a 67-year-old who was working as an English teacher in Berlin, the Berliner Morgenpost said.

He is suspected of heading up a widespread operation to import and sell children to pedophiles in Berlin, officials said. As a member of a help organization making trips to Haiti to support orphans, he and another, 57-year-old German man allegedly brought young boys back to Germany to be sold, the newspaper said.

Most of the cases occurred in 2002 and 2003, but some cases occurred as recently as last year, Sweden's TT news agency said in a report Sunday.

The investigation has gone on for a week. In all, three people have been arrested in the roundup.
