Plane makes emergency landing in Siberia

MOSCOW, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- A passenger airplane with 228 people on board was forced to make an emergency landing in Novosibirsk in Siberia Wednesday, a Russian airport spokesman said.

Tolmachyovo Airport officials said the landing gear failed to retract after the plane took off from Kemerovo en route to Bangkok, RIA Novosti reported.

A spokesman for the Kemerovo Region authorities said the crew "informed Moscow ... and decided to make an emergency landing."
