The trouble began Wednesday in the town of Karagali where students ages 7-17 began experiencing symptoms of acute dysentery, the regional prosecutor's office said.

RIA Novosti said prosecutors and the consumer rights agency announced violations of food-handling and storage rules at the secondary school. There was no indication, however, that any criminal charges were being considered.
