Earthquake rattles southern Peru

LIMA, May 6 (UPI) -- A 6.2-magnitude earthquake rattled southern Peru Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The quake's epicenter was about 20 miles west of Tacna, Peru; 35 miles north-northwest of Arica, Chile; 65 miles south-southeast of Moquegua, Peru; and 600 miles southeast of Lima, Peru's capital, USGS reported.

No major damage was reported, officials said.

The earthquake was about 22 miles deep, USGS said.
