3 hurt, 20 arrested in Israeli protests

JERUSALEM, Jan. 16 (UPI) -- Two Israeli soldiers and a police officer were injured Friday in clashes with protesters in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

At least 20 people were arrested, The Jerusalem Post reported. Thirteen of the arrests took place in East Jerusalem where left-wing Israelis were protesting treatment of Palestinians, and the others in a clash in the West Bank.

The soldiers and police officers were hurt by thrown rocks.

The protests were over the security fence, built to separate Palestinian areas on the West Bank from Israeli settlements.
