Belly landing for Canadian flight

BLOODVEIN, Manitoba, Jan. 10 (UPI) -- A small Canadian flight from Ontario to Manitoba ended with no injuries in a belly landing when the pilot failed to deploy land gear, police said.

The Piper Navajo Chieftain, which originated from an unreported location, landed at Bloodvein, a small community about 150 miles north of Winnipeg, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Saturday.

The nine adults and four children on board were unharmed, although the plane was damaged, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said.

Early reports said the cause of the failure to deploy was pilot error, the RCMP reported.
