BARCELONA, Spain, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- A bus crash north of Barcelona, Spain Monday killed a teenage girl and injured 20 others, local authorities said.
A Catalan police spokeswoman said the bus, carrying dozens of Dutch students ages 15 and 16 along with their teachers, flipped over after veering off a major highway at about 6:20 a.m. local time. The crash happened in the town of Bascara, in the province of Girona.
There were about 60 people on board. Some of the injuries were described as serious. Others, including the driver, suffered only slight injuries. All were taken to local hospitals.
The bus was reportedly on its way to the Mediterranean coast. The cause of the accident is not known; the driver was tested for alcohol, but the test was negative. An investigation was under way.
