BOSTON, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Mitt Romney's campaign said it raised $24 million in the last three months of 2011, the best quarter yet for the Republican presidential front-runner.
As Romney heads into the South Carolina primary after victories in the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primary, the campaign has $19 million cash on hand, ABC News reports.
"Mitt Romney's growing financial support is representative of the growing momentum for our campaign," Spencer Zwick, the campaign's national finance chairman, said in a statement Wednesday.
The former Massachusetts governor's campaign had raised $18 million in the second quarter and $14 million in the third quarter, bringing total 2011 primary contributions to $56 million.
Romney's campaign received contributions from all 50 states and Washington.
The campaign didn't collect general election funds, and Romney contributed none of his own money.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich of Georgia had told ABC News last month he expected $9 million in fourth-quarter contributions but also would have debt.
Texas Congressman Ron Paul's campaign said this week it had raised $13 million in the fourth quarter.
