AURORA, Colo., Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Police in Aurora, Colo., say a 38-year-old man died after being shocked with a stun gun by police officers when he allegedly resisted arrest.

Aurora police said in a news release that Shane Ledbetter died Sunday and an autopsy of his body will be conducted by the Arapahoe County Corner's Office to determine cause of death, The Denver Post reported Monday.

Police allege officers were forced to use a Taser on Ledbetter after the man provided false information regarding his identity and attempted to flee from the officers Thursday in Mission Viejo Park.

The officers encountered Ledbetter at an area home while arresting a 19-year-old fugitive on several arrest warrants, police said.

Arresting officers said Ledbetter was shot twice with a Taser after allegedly refusing police custody. The officers said Ledbetter became unresponsive after having an unspecified medical problem, The Aurora (Colo.) Sentinel reported.

Colorado Bureau of Investigation records indicate Ledbetter, a California native, had previously been arrested on charges including domestic violence.
