MEXICO CITY, Sept. 6 (UPI) -- The Mexican military says it has arrested an alleged drug kingpin linked to the deaths of two U.S. citizens near the Texas border.
Jose Escajeda, aka "El Rikin," was arrested Friday in Nuevo Casa Grandes, Chihuahua, CNN reported Sunday.
Escajeda is believed to be a top leader in the Juarez Cartel, which operates a 120-mile smuggling corridor on Mexico's border with Texas, the Mexican military and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration said in a statement.
Escajeda was on the U.S. most-wanted list for suspicion of drug-trafficking in the United States, CNN reported.
Benjamin LeBaron and his brother-in-law were killed by armed men who stormed their home in Galeana, Mexico, in July. The killings were reportedly retribution for the capture of 25 drug suspects in a nearby town, CNN reported.
The LeBarons belonged to the "Community of LeBaron," founded by ex-communicated Mormons in Galeana.
