Serial bank robber strikes again

HOUSTON, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- A bank thief nicknamed the "Reckless Robber" for his habit of waving a gun struck for the 14th time this week in the Houston area, police said.

The man escaped on a bicycle after holding up a Wells Fargo branch Thursday, the Houston Chronicle reported. He was wearing a bicycle helmet and biking gloves during the robbery.

The bicycle was later found near the bank.

The same man is believed to have carried out 13 other heists since Oct. 8. Investigators say he habitually carries a gun, waving it as he announces the hold-up and pointing it directly at bank employees and customers.

No injuries have been reported during any of the holdups.

In Thursday's robbery, the man was using a semi-automatic handgun, which he pulled from his waistband.

The robber is described as white or Hispanic, weighing more than 200 pounds and standing about 6-foot-2. He is 25 to 30 years old.

A $10,000 reward has been offered for information leading to his arrest.
