Obama names Iraqi refugee coordinators

WASHINGTON, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Two officials in the Obama administration will coordinate U.S. efforts to help Iraqi refugees and internally displaced persons, the White House said Friday.

Samantha Power, senior director for multilateral affairs and human rights at the National Security Council, will coordinate efforts among government departments on behalf of Iraqi refugees and internally displaced persons, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Friday.

Her counterpart in Baghdad will be Mark Storella, a senior Foreign Service officer who recently served as deputy chief of mission in Geneva, Switzerland, Gibbs said. Storella will coordinate U.S. refugee and displaced person efforts in Iraq, and represent the United States with the Iraqi government, the international community and non-governmental organizations.
