Decomposed body prompts Chicago inquiry

CHICAGO, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Authorities say they are looking into the recent discovery of a decomposing body at a Chicago apartment building.

The Chicago Sun-Times News Group reported Friday the body, thought to be that of a man in his 20s, was found Thursday following complaints by neighbors of maggots falling from the ceiling in the apartment building.

The identity of the man remains unknown as the body was badly decomposed at the time of discovery, police said.

Police said the man found on the building's third floor is thought to have died more than a week ago.

Unidentified sources said identification of the body will likely be difficult as the apartment building where the body was found typically houses transients.

An autopsy was pending.
