Plane crashes on landing at Thai resort

BANGKOK, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- A Bangkok Airways plane crashed at an island resort airport in Thailand Tuesday, killing the pilot and injuring 37 people, officials said.

Aviation officials said the plane had 68 passengers and four crew members on board when it skidded then crashed after landing at Koh Samui airport, CNN reported.

The ATR-72 turboprop aircraft was flying from Krabi to the resort island. Aviation officials said air traffic controllers warned the pilot of turbulence before the plane landed.
