1 dead, several wounded in N.C. melee

CONCORD, N.C., July 11 (UPI) -- A melee involving about 150 people in Concord, N.C., early Saturday left one person dead and at least three wounded, police said.

Police said a 4 a.m. emergency call alerted them to the fight outside a home, WSOC-TV, Charlotte reported.

Officers arrived at the scene to find at least four people had been shot. One, Keyarre Miller, 20, died a short time later, the TV station said.

Echo Latoya Rice, 21, Troy Raynard Alexander, 29, and Tracy Dewayne Andrews, 24, were wounded.

Two suspects were in custody. Their names were not released.

Witnesses told the TV station the fight broke out after several people got into an argument at a party, and it escalated into gunfire.
