Canadian jet loses tire rubber landing

TORONTO, June 29 (UPI) -- Emergency crews rushed to the runway when an Air Canada Jazz passenger jet lost some tire tread on landing in Toronto, officials said.

Not only was no one hurt in the Sunday night landing and a Jazz spokesperson said the 34 passengers on the flight from Kansas City were not even aware there had been a problem, the Toronto Star reported.

The outer tread came off a tire on the regional carrier's CRJ-200 aircraft as it touched down about 9 p.m. at Pearson International Airport.

The incident brought out the fire department and Peel police's airport division, the newspaper said.
