Young men allegedly admit killing girl, 13

TRENTON, N.J., June 27 (UPI) -- Two young members of a Trenton, N.J., street gang have admitted killing a 13-year-old girl in a drive-by shooting aimed at a rival gang, a prosecutor says.

Lamar Warren, 18, and a 17-year-old whose name has not been released allegedly fired into a crowd at a block party hosted June 7 by a city council candidate, The Times of Trenton reported. A bullet struck Tamrah Leonard, 13.

At a hearing Friday, Superior Court Judge Gerald Council refused to reduce Warren's $1 million bail. Warren's older brother, Keith, 21, the alleged driver, and Robert Humphreys, 21, are being held on the same amount, which the judge also refused to lower.

Assistant Prosecutor Doris Galuchie said the two alleged shooters not only admitted what they did but implicated the others.

Galuchie said the defendants are members of the Sex Money Murder gang who wanted revenge after one of their members was wounded in a shooting by the Gangster Killer Bloods. She said they believed members of that gang would be at the party and did not care that they might hurt or kill innocent children or adults.
