BELGRADE, Serbia, June 10 (UPI) -- A Serbian anti-fascist organization Wednesday said three of its members were assaulted by about 15 neo-Nazis in downtown Belgrade.
The Belgrade Anti-fascist Initiative said the assault Tuesday night was one in a series by Serbian neo-Nazi groups attempting to intimidate the citizens of Belgrade.
In a statement delivered to the Serbian private news agency FoNet, the anti-fascist group said it will not tolerate activities by neo-Nazis following policies dating back to World War II.
Several Serbian far-right groups, including the registered Honor fascist group, the illegal neo-Nazi National Formation and the Blood and Honor group, were using the New Serb Program civil association as a legal cover organization, the statement said.
Serbian government officials offered no immediate reaction to the anti-fascist statement.
