WASHINGTON, May 27 (UPI) -- President Obama's pick for the U.S. Supreme Court is already being touted in a 30-second television ad paid for by an umbrella group of liberal organizations.

The Coalition for Constitutional Values unveiled a spot promoting the candidacy of federal appeals Judge Sonia Sotomayor less than 24 hours after the president selected her for the high court, CNN reported.

"This spot introduces the American people to Judge Sonia Sotomayor," said Wade Henderson, co-chairman of the group. "It's important that they understand her fair-minded approach to the law which is grounded both in her eminent legal qualifications and her life experiences."

A representative of the coalition told CNN the ad was to air during national network and cable news programs beginning Wednesday.

The Coalition for Constitutional Values includes liberal-leaning organizations like the Alliance for Justice, Leadership Conference on Civil Rights and People for the American Way.
