Police say pawn robberies could escalate

ATLANTA, May 15 (UPI) -- Police in Atlanta say they fear that a group suspected of robbing seven pawn shops could pull off even more violent heists if not caught.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Friday that suspected gang members have already shot two pawn shop employees and used a Taser gun on four other pawn shop workers.

"Our concern is if this continues, the violence might escalate," Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokesman John Bankhead said "We're asking the public if they recognize any of these suspects, to call the GBI or their local police."

The newspaper said police have made two arrests in the case, but are still searching for five more suspects.
