Man arrested in British soldiers' deaths

BELFAST, Northern Ireland, April 2 (UPI) -- Police in Northern Ireland arrested a 19-year-old man Thursday in the deaths in March of two British soldiers, a law enforcement spokeswoman said.

Police didn't release the name of the man arrested in the shooting deaths of Cengiz "Pat" Azimkar, 21, and Mark Quinsey, 23, at a military base in Massereene, CNN reported.

Azimkar and Quinsey were killed March 7 during an attack as pizzas were being delivered to the base. Two other solders and two pizza delivery men were wounded in the assault.

The Real IRA, a militant group that broke away from the Irish Republican Army, claimed it carried out the attack, CNN said.

Two days after the attack on the military base, police officer Stephen Carroll was shot as he responded to a call in Craigavon, a town in County Armagh. Three people have been charged in his death, police said.

Continuity IRA, another militant splinter group, claimed responsibility for Carroll's death.
