Hu urges resolution in N. Korea nuke talks

BEIJING, March 19 (UPI) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao said Thursday all parties involved with talks regarding North Korea's nuclear program should work toward conflict resolution.

Hu told North Korean Premier Kim Yong Il that all six countries involved in the diplomatic talks should first resolve any existing conflicts in order to improve the international negotiations, the Kyodo news agency said.

''How to overcome current difficulties and resume the six-party talks is the task jointly faced by relevant parties,'' Hu said

''China hopes to make efforts together with relevant parties and continue promoting the six-party talks,'' the president added.

The talks over North Korea's possible denuclearization include China, North and South Korea, Japan, Russia and the United States. The talks have been stalled since December when the six sides failed to reach a consensus on how to verify North Korea's nuclear efforts.

Kim said his government, as well as the Workers' Party of Korea, are intent on improving relation with China, Kyodo said.
